Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently, wireless LAN protocols such as IEEE802.11 and HIPERLAN have been widely available. Mobile computing systems based on these protocols are classified into following two types; infrastructured networks and ad-hoc networks. In an ad-hoc network, there are only mobile computers and there is no router. All the mobile computers have capability of packet routing. Hence, an ad-hoc network supports applications based on a temporary network and a network whose topology is unstable. Routing protocols for ad-hoc networks have been developed. However, most of them is designed for ad-hoc networks where mobile computers move autonomously and slowly. This paper proposes a novel ad-hoc routing protocol for cluster-based system where multiple mobile computers move with almost the same speed. Here, for supporting clusters with higher speed, by combining multi-hop routing for intra-cluster communication and gateway-gateway routing for inter-cluster communication, more packets are exchanged among clusters. This paper discusses two primitive protocols; a gateway switching protocol and a packet routing protocol within a cluster.
