Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Up to now, many studies have been dedicated to model the performance of TCP. Most of them are aimed at protocol design and focused on only one TCP connection. Furthermore they require packet loss probability and round trip time to estimate the throughput of the TCP connection. Some of the previous works illuminate the interaction among many TCP connections but the number of the connections is constant. From capacity planning point of view, this study proposes a new method to model the throughput of many competing TCP connections that arrive and depart probabilistically. The proposed model is based on a queuing model with processor sharing service discipline and focuses on the slow start phase of TCP. The accuracy of the proposed model is investigated by comparison with simulation results.
