Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The data transmitting service over wireless networks has been further attracted with the growth of the Internet and wireless networks. However, TCP, which is a reliable end-to-end transport protocol in the current Internet, is tuned to perform well in wired networks where the error rates are very low and packet losses occur mostly because of congestion. Therefore, there is a possibility that the performance of TCP is severely affected when TCP used over wireless links which are characterized by high error rates. In this paper, we will clarify how TCP is affected over wireless networks by means of simulations, and discuss the packet managing scheme in Layer 2 ARQ to improve the performance of TCP in such networks.
