Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently, core stateless networks have been proposed for achieving approximate fair bandwidth allocation without requiring per-flow state monitoring. Rate estimation algorithm is one of basic components for realizing core stateless networks. The algorithm must be able to be sensitive to rapid rate fluctuations and smooth out the burstiness of TCP traffic for providing an accurate estimation of the arrival rate. Exponential averaging, sliding window, and TSW are examples of the rate estimation algorithm. However, there have been no studies on performance evaluation of these algorithms. This paper shows the performance of these algorithms in terms of accurate rate estimations.
