Proposal of Reflection Routing for Optical Packet Switched Networks

Abstract(in English) This paper proposes a noble routing algorithm that can greatly enhance performance of full-optical packet switched backbone networks. In optical packet switched networks, it is likely that link utilization is not so high while buffer size is strongly limited by the length of delay lines. In such a case, buffer size is one of the critical factors for network performance and thus expansion of buffer size will greatly improve quality of service in terms of packet loss probabilities. In this paper, we introduce a new idea to make use of optical links as optical buffers to expand effective buffer size for an optical switch and propose a new routing algorithm called reflection routing.
