Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Various multicast applications are expected to be used in future ATM networks. Many researches have been made on ATM switches with multicast function. In address-copying-type switch, it is shown that unicastpriority control which gives high priority to unicast cells can achieve high cell loss performance. Furthermore, we have proposed generalized two-level priority control scheme which gives high priority to the cells of which number of copies are lower than a certain threshold value, which can reduce the cell loss probability compared with conventional address-copying-type switches. However, since the optimal threshold value of the priority control scheme depends on the characteristics of arrival, it is difficult to decide the optimal threshold value for the unknown traffic. In this paper, we propose an sddress-copying type switch with adaptive two-level priority control, in which priority level is determined by the condition at any instant. We show that the performance of the proposed control scheme is better than that of existing schemes by simulation results.
