Proposal of Label Mapping Method in MPLS Networks and its Performance Evaluation

Abstract(in English) In order to transmit IP datagrams fast in MPLS(MultiProtocol Label Switching)networks, intermediate LSR(Label Switching Router)s have to map arriving IP datagram flow into some labels on Layer2 high speed switch such as VCI(Virtual Circuit Identifier)of ATM and establish LSP(Label Switched Path)s between these ingress and egress LER(Label Edge Router)s. This label mapping method is mainly divided into two schemes. One is the data-driven scheme and the other is the control-driven one. In this study, we will propose the new mapping method in which LSP is firstly pre-established by the control-driven scheme and more LSPs are set by the data-driven scheme when the bandwidth of the control-driven LSP is already consumed by some IP datagram flows and new flows arrive at LSR. By evaluating the cut-through rate and IP datagram transmission delay as performance measures, we will investigate the effectiveness and the robustness of the proposed label mapping method.
