A Study of Minimum Rate Guarantee Technique on Ethernet

Abstract(in English) We have developed the DRAMA(Dynamic Rate Assign Multiple Access)protocol which has high bandwidth efficiency and meets the minimum guaranteed rate in various Point-to-MultiPoint networks. This paper proposes to apply this protocol on Ethernet in order to guarantee the minimum rate service in LAN systems. This paper also describes the behavior and performance of the protocol in a laboratory set-up. The proposed technique mades full use of the existing Ethernet equipment. Consequently, this technique easily realizes the minimum guaranteed rate for LAN systems, and achieves it at a lower cost than the QoS guaranteed technique, which operates in the physical layer.
