| Abstract(in English) | In ATM Forum and IETF,the architecture to emulate the conventional LAN applications has been discussed.It is assumed that ATM network does have neither broadcast nor multicast capability.On the other hand,the conventional LANs have both multicast and broadcast capabilities,and the applications have frequently used them.The discussed emulation services are only MAC layer(i.e.data-link layer)level.It is assumed that every communication over the ATM networks will be provided by end-to-end connection oriented VCC. LAN Emulation SWG in ATM Forum has strongly focussed on the frame format to apply multiprotocol situation and on the protocol specification at end-terminal. |
