A Proposal of a Correction Method of Fraction Error in a Fluid Flow Model for ATM Traffic Analysis

Abstract(in English) Many cell loss models based on fluid flow models for ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode)networks have been proposed.The fluid flow models are analysis methods for continuous systems while ATM networks are discreet systems.Therefore approximation errors exist between them.Most of the fluid flow models are combined with a M, D/1 model as correction for cell level collisions.However,the "fraction error" which is another approximation error cannot be corrected with a M/D/1 model.This paper proposes a correction methods for the above "fraction error." For this purpose,we extend the inductive fluid flow model into the inductive diffusion model.Then,it becomes clear that the "fracfion error" can be neglected only under the condition:v>/ v<ρ(v>:a mean cell rate,v:a peak cell rate,ρ:a load of physical transmission line)where most of voice traffic did not satisfy. Comparison with Monte-Calro simulation shows that the inductive diffusion model is a safe approximation even under the condition: v>/v>ρ.
