Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Fibre Channel is defined as transmission media and networks which enable high speed transmission between computers and large volume storage devices and among computers at a gigabit/sec. Until now, communications in Fibre Channel networks have been closed in one enterprise system. So, by realizing interconnection between Fibre Channel networks via wide area networks, new services such as file back-up and delivery of large volumes of video data to remote sites can be provided. In this paper, an architecture to connect Fibre Channel networks to a wide area network and its networking topology are described. By this architecture, communication services used in each local Fibre Channel network can be also provided across a wide area network.
