Congestion avoidance method for realtime continuous media stream on the Internet

Abstract(in English) Because congestion control functions doesn't exist in UDP protocol using realtime continuous media stream communications on the Internet, congestion detection and avoidance must be done with application layer. But, in such system, a delay occurs in congestion detection and avoidance action, and it may prevent the equal share in network resources. And convergence of congestion avoidance becomes difficult when many continuous media stream communications are done simultaneously. In this article, we suggest a technique to detect traffic flow in order to get such a traffic under active band control by routers on a course. Then we experiment and evaluate it on the basis of real traffic data on local Internet exchange.
