Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This report studies the performance of a stored media synchronization scheme for PHS Internet Access. To measure the performance, we developed an experimental system, in which a video stream and an audio stream are transmitted from a media server to PHS mobile terminals. To preserve the temporal constraints of these streams (i.e., lip-synch) at PHS mobile terminals, we adopt slide control, which was proposed by the authors. We evaluate the influence of not only white noise and Rayleigh fading on the PHS channel but also the Internet traffic on the performance, when UDP is used. We then confirm the effectiveness of the slide control scheme. Morever, we examine whether TCP can be efficiently utilized to recover packet loss from the lip-synch point of view.
