Abstract(in English) | This paper proposes a STOP/SHAPE/GO (SSG) congestion control scheme for an input and output buffered switvh. The SSG congestion control enables a minimum bandwidth guarantee for each input for a particular output port under heavy overload. To achive this function, each output port generates multi-level backressure signals based on the congestion level of the output buffer. The input buffer scheduler has two different scheduling dynamics, the minimum bandwidth guarantee scheduling and excess bandwidth allocation scheduling. One of the scheduling dynamics is chosen for each input queue according to the backpressure signal from the particular output buffer. Numerical estimation shows that the SSG congestion control can provide the minimum bandwidth guarantee for each input buffer of an input and output buffered switch. The proposed SSG congestion control will be suitable to support the GFR service for the large scale ATM switches which employ an input and output buffered switch architecture. |
