Real-Time Communication System with FEC for Internet

Abstract(in English) Besides conventional data communication, real-time communication such as voice and video communication on Internet is now one of attractive network applications. It is strictly sensitive to delay time, and to packet loss particularly in the case of compressed communication as well. The protocols guaranteeing such QoS (Quality of Service) required by real-time communication recently have been studied, but an effective one is not yet available so far. In this paper, we develop a real-time communication system using FEC (Forward Error Correction) to improve the packet loss performance, and evaluate its performance by means of experiments on Internet.
