| Abstract(in English) | The recent progress in computers and networks realizes the possibility of digital libraries. There are many researches on digital libraries. In this paper, we present the outline of the digital library project, called Mandara Library, which is now in progress at Nara Institute of Science and Technology. Generally, University libraries have two major objectives. One is to collect scientific literature and library information using all available multimedia information sources. The other is to distribute academic information to outside of the university. To realize the objectives, Mandara Library has following characteristics : Media center, Desk-side Library, 24-hours Library. |
