A Measurement of TCP Throughput over High-Speed and Long-Delay Network

Abstract(in English) According to the appearance of Frame Relay and/or ATM based network, wide area data communication network is getting faster and more world-wide. In this situation, in order to support efficient inter-LAN communications via WAN, the performance evaluation on effects of the WAN with high bandwidth and long propagation delay is necessary. This paper describes the experimental results of the TCP throughput over High-speed and Long-delay Network. The results show the drop of TCP throughput efficiency due to the limit on the TCP maximum window size. Then, we propose an efficient file transfer scheme by multiple TCP connections.
