Internet Activity in Chugoku Region

Abstract(in English) We report the current Internet activity in Chugoku region. First we describe how the wide-area academic networks such as WIDE, JUNET, JAIN and SINET have been used and how these were changed in this area. Next, we describe the necessity and the current activity of the regional network in each area in Japan. Especially we report some experiments. For example; the broadcasting experiment related on the ceremony on the 6th of August in Hiroshima on multicast backbone network (Mbone) and the multimedia experiments in this area. Last, we report the Internet activities on the municipality and commercial providers and conclude the current status and issues in this area with comments for future issues.
