Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Computer networks are rapidly coming into widespread use and multimedia information is now provided by various servers. However, the bandwidth of existing terrestrial networks is not wide enough for the speedy transmission of multimedia information data. On the other hand, satellite networks have enough bandwidth to easily transmit large amounts of data to multiple points simultaneously. In addition, satellite transmission is being received by many homes in the form of satellite TV. Therefore, in order to provide multimedia services easily and economically, we are constructing a multimedia tele-education computer network system that combines satellite networks and terrestrial networks. In this paper technologies for multi-point addressing, routing and selecting data are presented.
