Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) ATM-WAN has been expected to become a backbone of multimedia network. It is required that ATM-WAN is flexible for various services and cost-effective. ATM multi-protocol Emulation Network (ALPEN) emulates various ATM layer services at the local switching nodes. The transit switch does not have function specialized for each services and only sends information about congestion. This paper proposes rate control techniques for ALPEN and discusses their stability and convergence. User is able to access network by ABR services which has already enough standardized. The solution for the problem that inactive sources causes excessive traffic is also explained in this paper. The performance of this techniques were evaluated by simulation. This techniques provide high throughput even in a long propagation delay network.
