| Abstract(in English) | In September of 1995, Project of Multimedia University Pilot Study (MUPS) started to promote application of multimedia technology to a research and education in Toyohashi University. In this paper, the MUPS project for research and education fields and its system are shown. MUPS system is consisting of global multimedia network system with optical fiber cable systems of 10G ATM-LAN and interactive CATV, and radio wave systems of analog and digital microwave satellite communications, where digital SC is one of Space Collaboration System (SCS) project. By using multimedia network system, fundamental and applied engineering research and education will be developed, and long distance lessons between many universities and technical colleges are opened, and also refresh education for engineers in companies, and TV meetings and conferences are carried out. Image simulation studies of VR and CG are developed as multimedia research and education. Problems in the development of MUPS project are discussed. |
