A Comparative Study on Schemes to Guarantee Maximum Delay in High Speed Networks

Abstract(in English) It is very important to provide real time communication that the maximum delay in a network is guaranteed deterministically. The delay which is caused by collision among traffic streams, such as delay by media access, is one of delay factors. This paper summarizes schemes which can specify the upper bound of the delay on. media access control in high speed LAN including ATM. Next, this paper compares their upper bound. It concludes that ATM is the most suitable scheme td provide real time communication because various upper bounds can be easily specified by its flexible priority control function.
