Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The OFDM transmission mode, namely, the effective symbol duration and the guard interval, should be promptly detected to realize a flexible digital terrestrial TV system where broadcasters transmit various mode signals based on the required bit rates and their geometrical environments. Since September 1998, four modes have been newly added to the ISDB-T specification, and as a result the 12 mode signals are possible in the air. This paper presents a new OFDM mode detector for the 12 modes which does not require to demodulate any OFDM signal. The hardware complexity is reduced, compared to the conventional detector. Computer simulation has been conducted and the numerical results show that the detection error rate of 10^<-2> can be achieved at C/N of -3dB with the observation period of 3 maximum-symbol-lengths for the AWGN channel. Also the results show that the same detection error rate can be achieved at 0dB with the observation period of 8 maximum-symbol-lengths for the 2-path fading channel with D/U=0dB, f_d=50Hz, τ=2.46μs.
