Abstract(in English) This paper proposes a new coding technique for video signal transmission.It consists of variable-block-size motion compensation and coding with edge patterns.The use of variable- block-size motion compensation reduces the number of motion vectors to be transmitted.The latter encodes interframe prediction riesidues in subbands.It can achieve high compression by a suitable allocation of bits to each subband signal.Efficacy of the proposed method is confirmed by simulation.
