Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) To realize highly-functional visual database, efficiently storing picture information, we investigated a structural description of the system, which reduces the access time for demanded-information. In this paper, we particularly focus on scaling up and scaling down an image, and we used the scalability. In consequence, at first, we tried to do so for an image as a whole, in case of storing data in the user's side memory, hierarchical coding is effective. On the other hand, non-hierarchical data structure is suited for storing in the center's side one from functional and effective points of view. Second, when we considered a expansion of a part of it, dividing operation at the early stage in process of hierarchical coding, is effectual in order to decrease decoding process.
