An Efficiency Evaluation of Lossless Video Coding Using Motion Compensation

Abstract(in English) This paper describes an efficiency evaluation of lossless video coding using motion compensation(MC). First, prediction error images are obtained through intra/inter decision, and LZW code, which is one of the most efficient universal code is applied to the prediction error images and motion vectors. Simulation results show that the compression ratio of proposed method is 10% higher than that of the JPEG lossless method. Moreover, it has been clarified that memory size to implement LZW coding for MC images is very small in comparison with that for original images directly.
