AC coefficient prediction for the Hadamard transform and its application to image coding

Abstract(in English) This paper derives two types of coefficient prediction methods for 8×8 Hadamard transform: one is prediction based on DC coefficients of surrounding blocks, and the other is that of higher-order coefficients from low-order coefficients. The first method is derived from second-order waveform interpolation in the center block, and the second one is done from the first method. The derived methods reduce data amount by some percent, when introduced to the lossless compression method previously proposed. These prediction methods also improve image quality toward that of DCT methods, in early stages of spectral-selection progressive coding.
