Abstract(in English)	MPEG4-International standard for multimedia coding-is now under discussion in ISO.It is required that new functionality which is not covered by existing standardization and higher coding efficiency be realized by MPEG4. Especially, error resilient coding for error prone environment, shape and texture coding for arbitrary shape object and new background memory for synthetic images are characteristic coding tools. Technical discussion for MPEG4 version I was finalized at the end of last October, and this paper describes the contents and the future schedule.
