Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A new stereo echo canceler which provides a strict identification of the echo path impulse responses is proposed. A switching circuit and a lowpass filter with time-varying coefficients are implemented in one of the two channels. By this pre-processing of the input signals, a sufficient number of equations derived from the condition for echo cancellation is obtained. The common solution to these equations is unique and implies the convergence of filter coefficients to the samples of the echo path impulse response. Signal distortion is limited by selecting appropriate switching frequency and lowpass-filter coefficients. The convergence of filter coefficients is confirmed by simulation results. Subjective listening tests show that the processed signals are scored 0.5 lower than the original input signals, using the CCIR five-grade impairment scale. The proposed structure is robust since ERLE is not degraded by acoustic changes in the remote room.
