Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Field formats of moving picture are divided into progressive formats or interlace formats due to its scanning method. Since the vertical resolution of the interlace format field is half the vertical resolution of the progressive format field, we can save bandwidth required for analog transmission of TV signals effectively. But, for digital transmission of TV signals, the transmitting cost depends on the coding efficiency, not on the resolution of the field. In this paper, we evaluiate the differrence in coding efficiency between coding for progressive format and coding for interlace format theoretically using 3 dimension DCT.
