Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This parper presents a fusion scheme for Wavelets and Fractal image compression based on the self-similarity of the space-frequency plane of subband encoded images Various kinds of Wavelets transformations are examined for the charactenstics of their self-similarity and evaluated for the adoption of Fractal modeling The aim is to reduce the informastion of the two sets of blocks involved in Fractal image compression by using the self-similarity of images. Also, the fusion method of Wavelets and Fractal video coding adopts the similar manner as the motion compensation scheme. Coding results are achieved by almost the same PSNR and bits rate as conventional Fractal image encoders depending on the sampled images by computer simulations
