Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this article, we tried field test of a proposed SDMA in a cellular mobile environment. The system comprises smart antennas of a base station that adaptively control radiation patterns and polarization, and mobile terminals that employ a dual-polarized antenna that communicate using polarization assigned by the base station. We analyze SINR characteristics for the number of users applying SDMA and appear the improvement of channel capacity in a single cell environment. We found that the user capacity of the proposed SDMA is about one and a half times as much as that of the conventional SDMA when the element spacing of the base station is a half wavelength. Moreover, we show that the SINR improvement of a half wavelength element spacing of the proposed SDMA is larger than that of the wider element spacing of the conventional SDMA.
