Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The phased-array-fed imaging reflector antenna is expected to be used as the onboard antenna of the future Ka-band broadband satellite communication system. However, because the number of radiating elements on the satellite should be as few as possible, a problem may occur; that is, grating lobes are generated if there are too few radiating elements. In this paper, we propose a method for reducing the grating lobe level generated when there are small number of radiating elements in the imaging reflector antenna configuration. We also design a suitable onboard phased-array-fed imaging reflector antenna using this method for a future Ka-band broadband satellite system to offer a two-way high speed communication in Japanese area and clarify its antenna performance.
