Comparison of Diversity Combining Schemes for Forward Link OFCDM Packet Wireless Access

Abstract(in English) This paper proposes an antenna diversity reception method such that antenna diversity is conducted employing a symbol sequence in the frequency domain and investigates the optimum combining method of despreading and diversity combining for OFCDM (Orthogonal Frequency and Code Division Multiplexing) broadband packet wireless ac cess. Simulation results elucidate that the combination of MMSEC (Minimum Mean Square Error Combining) in the despreading process and EGC (Equal Gain Combining) in antenna diversity combining is superior in the proposed diversity scheme. Furthermore, we clarify that the required average received E_b/N_0 for thc average packet error rate (PER) of 10^-2 employing the above-mentioned method is improved by 0.6 and 0.3 dB compared to the conventional diversity scheme diversity combining (EGC) before despreading (EGC) in a 24-path Rayleigh fading channel in a single cell environment when the number of multiplexed codes=8 and 32,respectively, with the spreading factor of SF=32.
