Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Fixed satellite service(FSS)first provided international long distance transmission links and recently has a wide area of applications as the result of rapid development. This presentation introduces recent activities of standardization in the area of FSS with an overview on development of new technologies. First, lessons learnt from NGSO satellite projects are presented. With respect to frequency sharing, the concept of newly proposed"epfd"is explained along with modification of Article S22 of Radio Regulations and the use of Quasi Geo-stationary Satellite Orbit. New areas of FSS applications include earth station on vessel(ESV)and high speed internet from aircraft via satellite. Technical subjects are also identified for IP transmission over satellite. Newly arising problems are briefly introduced for backlog in satellite registration and interference between Ka-band satellites and fixed wireless access systems in urban areas.
