| Abstract(in English) | Mobile satellite communications have rapidly developed first for maritime and then for aeronautical and land mobile satellite services. New technologies such as non-geostationary satellites and satellite mobile phone have recently been introduced. For introduction of these new services, standardization activities have played an important role as well as development of new technologies. Taking account of technical characteristics inherent to mobile satellite communications, this presentation provides a brief overview of standardization activities in the subject area so that the role and properties of standardization activities may be clarified in mobile satellite communications. A special focus is placed on subjects relating to new frequency allocation, frequency sharing and technical characteristics of mobile terminals to facilitate their circulation. Recent studies are also introduced that aim at high-speed data services. |
