Downlink Transmit Beamforming in FDD Cellular System

Abstract(in English) The authors propose a transmit beamforming method in the cellular systems with frequency division duplex (FDD). The proposed method uses the information of the receive beamforming and the transmitting and receiving radiation patterns of the antenna elements. The proposed method is applicable for the arbitrary array composed of antenna elements with different radiation patterns in the transmitting/receiving frequency bands. We have confirmed in the simulation that the performance of the proposed method is almost the same as that of the method using the knowledge of the directions of arrivals (DOAs) of the signals.
