Delay Profile Estimation and Coherent Detection Scheme of Scattered Pilot OFDM Signal in Mobile Radio Environment

Abstract(in English) This paper proposes a new carrier recovery algorithm to achieve the coherent detection of OFDM signal in the mobile radio multipath environments. The proposed scheme estimates the delay profile (impulse response) under the MMSE criteria, and then conducts the carrier recovery for all the subcarrier signals by the Fourier transform of the estimated profile. In case of the scattered pilot symbols, a recursive estimation of the delay profile is derived by means of the RLS algorithm. When the scattered pilot symbols are not allocated to all the subcarrier signals, the delay profile estimation is demonstrated to suffer from the aliasing effect. For the purpose of verifying the system performance of the proposed algorithm, computer simulations are conducted. The simulation results show that the average BER performance coincides with the theoretical one. It is also demonstrated that the parameters of the guard time and sample number for the estimation should be adjusted appropriately in order to avoid the aliasing.
