Abstract(in English) Throughout the world, Ka-band is being exploited to take advantage of its wide band for the multimedia type satellite services.Aiming at the niche market such as an interactive distance learning service, Korea Telecom is implementing a pilot platform for Ka-band services. In the star network of the platform, the hub station provides multiplexed multimedia data up to a rate of 45Mbit/s for subscriber terminals that can be accessible to the network in MF-TDMA at speeds up to 3Mbit/s.In this paper, we introduce the mechanism of bandwidth on demand and rain fade control of the system using new technologies such as a symbol synchronous MF-TDMA medium access, and CPFSK modulation.
