Development of Experimental Ka-band Satellite Communications Payload for Wideband Multimedia Services

Abstract(in English) ETRI developed the engineering model Ka-band satellite communications system. This system is able to provide a high data rate communication service with a bandwidth of 200 MHz, a wideband digital trunking services up to 155 Mbps and symmetrical/asymmetrical internet multimedia services. The system employs the common receive/transmit antenna and the LNA-Downconverters. The different types of high power amplification, TWTA for one chain and SSPA for the other chain, are used for the variety of experimental options. The frequency selective surface type Antenna, MMIC LNA, MMIC SSPA, Input Filter, Input/Output Channel Filter developed by ETRI are verified via this system. This paper describes the results of the parmetric RF test of this payload.
