Dielectric Slab-guide Planar Antenna for Millimeter-Wave with High Efficiency

Abstract(in English) We have verified that a novel planar leaky-wave antenna using dielectric slab-guide periodically loaded with printed metallic strips, had a low loss a high efficiency in the millimeter-wave band. In this paper, we will propose key techniques to reduce conductor losses to the ground plane, and to suppress reflections generated by metallic strips. We will also describe a feed system to excite effectively the dielectric slab. Upon these techniques, we have developed a prototype model antenna at 76GHz band, and achieved 66% antenna efficiency. We will show the configuration and the radiation characteristics of the antenna.
