Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The cavity-backed slot antenna is used as an element for the solar power satellite SPS2000. The antenna element is superior to other elements in mechanical strength and heat dissipation, and has prospects of low profile cavity structures. In this paper we explain the details of the design method realizing a low profile element which the authors had proposed in the previous study, and clarify the fundamental rule of impedance matching. Moreover, relations between antenna parameters and frequency bandwidth of input characteristic are derived by the analysis. Upon showing design results for the elements with the cavity height of less than 2 mm and comparing them with measurements, we discuss the effectiveness of the design method. The method also yields the low profile cavity, applied to design downsized elements. The finite-difference time-domain technique is employed to analyze those elements, and good agreements are obtained with measured results.
