On the Estimated Position Error of a Hierachical Vehicle Position Coding Scheme in an Inter-vehicle Communication Network

Abstract(in English) In this paper, we discuss the estimated position error of the hierachical vehicle position coding scheme in an inter-vehile communication network. Since signal energy is hiarachically distributed to each information bit due to its importance, the proposed coding scheme can provide detailed position data for nearby vehicles and coarse position data for further vehicles. Caluclating the estimated position errors caused by transmission errors when vehicular position data were encoded by using the proposed scheme, which were got from the one-dimensional vehicular positioning system, it is shown that the proposed coding scheme supresses the estimated position error smaller than the uniformly distributed coding scheme does. Moreover, considering the two-dimensional vehicular positioning system, the estimated position errors are quantitatively compared and the effectiveness of the proposed scheme is shown.
