Novel Wireless Communication Systems Using Stratospheric Platforms

Abstract(in English) A new national R&D project on novel communication systems using a number of large airships or stratospheric platforms. The platforms will be used as base stations and switching centers for various types of communication systems including broadband wireless access system, future mobile multimedia radio and broadcasting. The goal of the national project is to develop key technology for stratospheric platform system in several years and to demonstrate it in the stratosphere. As for communications mission of the experimental platform, multi-beam antennas in mm-wave and Ka bands will be installed.
