Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) NTT has developed new portable and economical earth station equipment for Ku-band satellite TDMA systems. The equipment fully supports ISDN I-interface.As it can be divided into several units for transportation and each unit is almost 20 kg,it is light enough for transportation by hand.As the former type portable earth station requires two big trucks to transport, its size and weight restrict its activity in mountainous area, badlands, and isolated islands. In contrast to the former type, the new equipment is very suitable to recover electric communication lines damaged by natural disaster. The new equipment is also economical, because of the employment of inter system utilizable components, considering cost reduction effect of mass-production.It can be applied to establish temporary lines as well as emergency use.
