Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper we propose a method of symbol timing synchronization for a PSK demodulator utilizing DSP. The coherently detected and A/D converted received PSK signal is shaped and checked its zero crossing timing optimizes. Filtering of the zero crossing timing of the shaped signal optimizes the timing synchronization performance. Four samples per symbol data of the PSK signal amplitude are used in the process. A running average filter is used in the shaping function. The last 3 samples of the input signal are summed up in the filter as each current sample comes in. If the sum is greater than zero, '1' is assigned, otherwise, '-1' is assigned for the current output. The computer simulations has given the results as shown below. As C/N=0dB, the acquistion time is less than 10 symbol's time and the r. m. s. value of jitters is less than 10% of the 1 symbol time.
