Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The study is now under way to apply a satellite communication system to the broadband ISDN(B-ISDN).Although TDMA systems are preferable to achieve the efficient use of satellite channels,a CDV compensation protocol is needed to surppress the cell delay variation(CDV)due to the conversion between satellite TDMA systems and the terrestrial ATM network. This paper presents the performance evaluation results of the proposed CDV compensation protocol named Cell Number Counting Protocol(CNCP).In order to solve the clumping problem, this paper proposes a new optimal method using stepping time stamps and evaluates the performance. This paper also shows that this method can also improve the CDV compensation performance.
