Observation Results of Rain Attenuation Ku band Satellite Channel by VSAT system

Abstract(in English) The SCSAT satellite channel(up-link 14GHz, down-link 12GHz,band width 100kHz)owned by Japan Satellite Systems Inc.,has been monitored continuously by the VSAT(Very Small Aperture Terminal) system in Tagajo,Miyagi Prefecture,Japan.Especially the receiving level of up-down signal from the VSAT and the background noise level have been observed from October in 1991,together with simultaneous measurements of rain rate.The time-interval for data gathering is 2 seconds. In this paper,the observation system for rain attenuation is introduced and some examples of rain attenuation data are shown, Some discussions on the CCIR model and correlation between rain rate and the rain attenuation are followed.
