Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In the mobile satellite communication system applying the onboard deployable mesh reflector antenna, passive intermodulation(PIM) has to be taken into account in performance evaluation, when the onboard antenna is commonly used for both transmitting and receiving. The non-linear effect of the mesh antenna reflector generates the PIM from the transmitting signal radiated from the antenna horn. The frequency spectrum of the PIM is expanded and then falls into the receiving band.As a result, the PIM becomes an interference signal which degrades communication system performance. In this paper, the transmitting signal is first modeled as to a noisy signal, then the ratio of the power density of the desired receiving signal to that of the PIM is analyzed. Moreover, the influence of the PIM in the S-band mobile satellite communication system is described as an example.
