Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper describes a frequency channel assignment method for the service link of intermediate circular satellite systems. The method is based on a linear programming formulation and provides frequency assignment with the minimum requirement of frequency bands. For the optimized assignment, we evaluate fresh call blocking rate, handover failure rate and call completion rate for various traffic control methods by computer simulation. The simulation results show;(1)Fresh call blocking rate or handover failure rate can be improved by using a queueing method or a retry method. Call completion rate for both methods is comparable with each other. (2)An appropriate amount of preserved channels for overflow calls can achieve practically sufficient perfomance for all the methods. It is expected that introduction of an adequate traffic control method will enable to meet the required network performance for personal satellite communication systems.
